Rebirth of cool in the Tenderloin. The evolution from subsistence business to rarefied comestibles began as a masonry tire garage, then rebirthed into a dry cleaners with a contemporary storefront of its own. Our project stripped back the layers of vice and corruption to lay bare the brick exterior and revealed at the interior. Strengthening for the future resulted in double moment frames, concrete retaining walls and a new interior of terrazzo, walnut millwork, and stainless steel. A new wood storefront welcomes all through latticework gates into a terrazzo lined retail food display with a restaurant grade commercial kitchen in the basement.
